Skinfood Black Sugar Mask review

Happy weekend, everyone!

I've been much more conscious of taking care of my skin lately, as I've finally realized that healthy and happy skin is the key to flawness face makeup. Although I go through the routine of cleansing and exfoliating using a chemical exfoliator, I felt like my skincare routine was majorly lacking. As such, I'm beginning to explore the world of face masks.

The first thing I learned about skincare is that quality products can be bank-breaking. I have pretty limited funds being a college student living in one of the most expensive cities in the US, so pricey skincare products just aren't in my realm of possibilities. While on the hunt for affordable products, I stumbled upon the brand Skinfood, in particular their Black Sugar Mask. Skinfood is a Korean skincare line, which was encouraging to me because Korean skincare is notorious for being top-notch. The concept behind the brand is simple - they use real food ingredients from plants, fruits, and more that are nutritious for your skin. The best part about them is that they're incredibly affordable and easily accessible. You can buy products from this brand through Ulta, and this mask in particular was only $10!

The Black Sugar mask is a wash off face mask that contains mineral-enriched Brazilian black sugar, macadamia seed oil, and shea butter among other ingredients. The smell of this mask is amazing. It has a scent reminiscent of fresh laundry and sugar, but the sweet undertones in the scent are not overpowering. Being a sugar mask, the texture is gritty and firm but still applied easily. I just used a clean finger to scoop some of the mask up and massaged it into my freshly-cleansed, damp face. The instructions indicate that you should leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes, so I completed the rest of my nightly routine while letting it do its thaaang.

After washing off the mask with lukewarm water, my face looked noticeably cleaner. It did leave a bit of redness on my cheeks initially after washing it off but that subsided quickly. My face felt silky smooth and surprisingly much more hydrated. However, I noticed the real effects in the morning.

When I woke up, my face was GLOWING you guys. Normally I look like a creature from a deep lagoon when I wake up, but my skin was actually angelic. And the best part was, my pores were minimized to the point where they were barely even noticeable. This is huge for me, as normally the pores on my cheeks and nose resemble craters that could truly be seen from outer space.

I've since used this mask every other day or so, and continue to see amazing results. It's very gentle on my skin which is fantastic for days where I do not want to use a harsh chemical exfoliator. If you have dry skin or massive pores as I do, I would absolutely 100000% recommend you pick up this mask. I can't wait to try even more products from Skinfood after seeing the wonders their Black Sugar Mask did for my skin!
