Happy Thursday beauties!
Recently I was lucky enough to be chosen to receive an Elf voxbox courtesy of Influenster! Although I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes, all thoughts and opinions on these products are my own. See my disclaimer page for more info.
This voxbox was chock-full of goodies from Elf's skincare and makeup lines. For those who don't know, Elf (also known as Eyes Lip Face) is an extremely affordable drugstore brand that makes great quality products for a low pricetag. Although I've used some of their makeup products, I was actually unaware that they had released a skincare line. I've been all about skincare lately as I've finally learned the importance of having a good base for my makeup. Plus we all know my love for makeup at this point. So, you can imagine my excitement when I found out I would be receiving this box!
Although I haven't had the chance to really test-drive all of these products yet, I wanted to do a quick post about the products I received.
Hydrating bubble mask: I've been loving experimenting with face masks for the last few months so this was the product I was most looking forward to receiving! The point of this mask is to hydrate and nourish the skin through the action of tiny fizzing bubbles that foam up and cleanse your pores. I actually tried this out last night and have to say that it was very interesting! I love the design of mask's container - to disperse product, you simply press down on the top of the container and the mask comes out from a hole in the top. This is an innovative design that prevents you from having to stick your fingers into the mask and leave germs behind in the container after every use. Yuck. As for the mask itself, it was so fascinating to watch the bubbles form them fizz and turn into foam on my face. The bubbles dissipated after about 10 minutes, after which I washed it off and found that my skin felt and looked noticeably cleaner and fresher. This masks gets a great mark so far from me!
Mineral Infused Face Primer: I'm in desperate need for a new primer so I'm looking forward to testing this one out. I used to love the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer but I could only ever afford the travel size version of it as the full sized bottle costs a steep $54. The Hourglass primer filled in my pores so nicely and left my skin feeling silky smooth, so I'm hoping this one will have the same effects. I'll report back asap on whether or not this is a $6 dupe!
Lip Exfoliator in Mint Maniac: This product is a lip exfoliator conveniently in the shape of a lipstick. I think I'll get a lot of use out of the product, especially in the upcoming winter months where my lips are sad and dry and I'll inevitably continue to torture them by wearing liquid lipstick. I've tried Elf's traditional sugar lip exfoliator before but found it was a bit too rough on my lips for my liking. This product has a smooth texture unlike the sugar one, so I have high hopes! I'm intrigued by the mint exfoliator because I've found that peppermint extract does amazing things for plumping up my lips. It also smells like a candy cane so you really can't go wrong.
Baked Highlighter & Bronzer in Bronzed Glow: I've been loving baked products lately and I've gotta say this product looks gorgeous. This duo contains jojoba, sunflower, apricot, and grape oils to nourish the skin which will be great to brighten up my dull skin in the dry winter months. It will also be perfect for traveling due to the fact that it's a highlighter and bronzer all in one! The shades of the bronzer and highlighter are gorgeous and subtle. However they both are packed pretty full of sparkles so if that's not your jam then you probably won't like this too much. Being the sparkle queen that I am, I'm all about covering my face in glitter. The highlighter wasn't super pigmented on my arm swatch, but given that baked products often apply better wet I'll try applying it that way to see if it packs a bit more of a punch.
Matte Lip Color in Wine: This is a creamy lipstick in the form of a twist up crayon. The packaging also contains a sharpener at the base of the crayon which is super innovative! The lipstick contains vitamins A, C and E to moisturize your lips which again will be great for the upcoming winter (are you sensing a theme here?) I am also looooving the shade that Influenster sent out. Wine is a deep berry color which is one of my personal favorite colors to put on my lips. I haven't tried it out yet so I'm not sure of the staying power; however, the swatch on my arm faded somewhat quickly after my sleeve fell over it, and left behind a gorgeous berry-toned stain.
I am so thrilled to try out these products! Look out for a more comprehensive review of them in the future. I want to hear about your favorite Elf products - comment below with what I need to check out!
