Happy Monday everyone!
Apologies for being so MIA on the blog for the past week and a half. If you follow me on Instagram, you likely know that I was struggling with hours upon hours of studying for finals week. I'm happy to report that the semester is finally over, and I cannot wait to get back to my regularly scheduled blogging!
Since the holidays are rapidly approaching, I figured it would be fun to do a post outlining some of my favorite classic red lips to wear for the holiday season. I tried to select a wide range of reds so there's a little something for everyone's tastes in this post!
Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Prim: This is a deep, vampy red-violet shade that pairs beautifully with a dark, sultry smokey eye. This formula is super comfortable on the lips but is not 100% transfer proof, so do be aware that you'll likely have to touch up after devouring Christmas dinner.
Laura Geller Love Me Dew Moisturizing Lip Crayon in Cherry Punch: This is a sheer, warm-toned red shade with some subtle sparkle to it. This lipstick applies like a balm but can be built up effortlessly to appear completely opaque on the lips. It's incredibly moisturizing but does have a tendency to slide off the lips; that being said, if you struggle with bone-dry lips during the winter like I do, this shade may be a good choice for you! Unfortunately I couldn't find a link for this one, so I'm uncertain if it's just out of stock or no longer produced. :(
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw: Outlaw is a similar shade as Laura Geller's Cherry Punch, but is slightly cooler-toned and has a much different formula. Kat Von D's liquid lipsticks are matte and highly pigmented, but I also find them to be slightly drying. However, their staying power is quite impressive, so if you need a lipstick to wear in a situation where you won't have the opportunity to reapply, this one may be the best choice for you!
Nyx Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Alabama: Alabama is a true brick red, complete with brown undertones that give off a very '90s vibe. This is a matte formula in the standard lipstick bullet style. While it does not have the staying power of a matte liquid lipstick, it still lasts for quite a while and feels much more comfortable on the lips. The only drawback is you may experience some crumbling after wearing it for several hours. If you're looking for an earthy red tone to pair with a neutral eye, this shade would complement your look perfectly!
Nyx Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Cherry Skies: Cherry Skies is a deep, rich, cool-toned red. You all are already well aware how much I love the formula of Nyx's Liquid Suede lipsticks, so I'll spare you all and avoid getting up on my soapbox to sing the graces of this formula. Some people take issue in the fact that the lipsticks do not dry down fully matte and remain a bit tacky, but I find that this keeps my already dry lips from becoming even more dehydrated. Out of all of the shades presented here, this one is probably my favorite.
