January Favorites

Happy Monday beauties!

I genuinely cannot believe that January is already over and that it's time for a monthly favorites post. I feel like time has been flying by lately and will continue to do so as the next couple of months are going to be crazy for me. As far as beauty goes, January was about testing out a lot of makeup that I received for Christmas and I'm excited to share my thoughts with you guys!

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in Be My Highlight: I mentioned this highlighter in my Best Products of 2016 post and my love for it continues to ring true. It is the perfect highlighter to give you a subtle glow but can be built up if you're having a glazed-donut-goddess type of day. It costs less than $5 and you get a ton of product for the price. If you're interested in an affordable highlighter, this one should be at the top of your list.

Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer: I received a mini version of this bronzer in my Christmas stocking and have been using it a lot lately to bring some warmth back into my pale winter face. I have to admit that I'm generally terrified of using bronzers, but this one falls into the perfect neutral territory and neither pulls too warm nor too cool on my skin. I can see why its matte, silky smooth finish is a fan favorite.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer: I'm usually reluctant of products that are so hyped up in the beauty community as they often fall short of my expectations. However, Tarte's Shape Tape fully lives up to the hype and even surpasses it. This concealer does everything - it's pigmented enough to cover up acne spots and super dark undereye circles, creamy enough to blend out like a breeze, and miraculously does not crease AT ALL, even when it's not set with powder. A little goes a long way with this concealer, and it is completely worth the splurge in my opinion.

Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Naughty: This was a limited edition release for the holidays but is still available online. I'd heard good things about the Gen Nude line of lipsticks and wanted to test it out for myself. This lipstick is amazing - it's more of a lip cream than a liquid lipstick which lends itself to not dry out my lips as much as the standard matte liquid lipsticks do. This lipstick has great staying power for a creamy consistency too. Although it fades when you're eating, it fades evenly to leave a nice stain on your lips. My favorite part about it is it smells like hot cocoa! So heavenly.

Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara: Guys. This has seriously become my holy grail mascara in a matter of a couple weeks. It is the only mascara I've ever tried (and trust me, I've tried many, both drugstore and high-end) that lengths, separates, plumps my lashes, AND stays put all day. And the best part? This mascara is only $5. You normally can't see my stubby lashes above my crease, but this mascara makes it look like I'm wearing falsies. The only drawback is I do experience some transfer to my undereye area since it's not waterproof. I'm experimenting with a few techniques to see if I can stop this from happening, so I'll report back with the results.
