Review: BH Cosmetics x Carli Bybel Palette

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope your week is off to an amazing start. I recently bought the 50 mm f/1.8 camera lens I've been lusting after for years, so if you notice any difference in my pictures that would be the culprit! Pretty good way to start the week if you ask me.

Today I'm reviewing the BH Cosmetics x Carli Bybel 14 Color Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette. For those of you who aren't Youtube-savvy, Carli Bybel is a beauty influencer who teamed up with the always affordable BH Cosmetics to create this stunning palette. It is currently on sale for $14.50 through the BH Cosmetics website. For that price you get 10 eyeshadows and 4 massive highlighters - a steal if you ask me! Also keep in mind that this is a limited edition palette that will likely be pulled within the next month or two. Get it before it's gone!

To start off, I'll say that the palette packaging does leave a bit to be desired. I'm not a massive fan of cardboard palette bases, but it gets the job done and is so affordable that I don't mind it too much. It's also evident that BH Cosmetics and Carli Bybel tried to spruce up the cardboard a bit as there's lovely detailing and filigree present throughout. The top of the palette also contains the super sweet message "Aspire to Inspire" and a decent sized mirror, both of which are pluses in my book.

As far as the eyeshadows go, you get 4 matte shades and 6 shimmer shades to choose from. All of the shadows are silky smooth and easy to blend. I do experience some fallout which is to be expected from soft shadows. Both the mattes and shimmers are incredibly pigmented with one swipe. This palette is focused on neutral shades but contains enough of a variety that I don't find it boring. The shades are not labeled (a pet peeve of mine), but I will do my best to describe them!

The top row houses a matte nude shade perfect for setting your eyelid with, a pale pink champagne shimmer shade, a taupe matte shade, a mauve matte shade, and a deep chocolatey berry matte shade. The bottom row houses all shimmers - three different tones of gold, a deep brown, and an olive green. The only thing I feel is missing is a true brown matte transition shade. Regardless, you can still create many looks perfect for either work or play with ease using this palette.

I absolutely love the highlighters that come in the palette. They are VERY sparkly so if you like a disco ball highlight then these will be your jam. They also have a lovely flower type design embossed into them which adds a little something cute. Much like the eyeshadows, each of the highlighters is pigmented with one swipe.

There are four highlighters that will work with a large variety of skintones. The first is a pale, cool-toned pink that is my personal favorite. The second is a champagne very reminiscent of Becca x Jaclyn Hill's Champagne Pop. The third shade is a true gold and definitely the sparkliest out of all of the highlighters. It reminds me of the vibe from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sundipped Glow Kit. The final shade is a warm caramel brown that's much too dark to be used as a highlighter on my pale skintone. However, it will make a gorgeous eyeshadow!

Unfortunately, I am a complete bonehead and forgot to do some swatches of the palette after getting caught up in using my pretty new lens. I will do my best to get some swatch photos up on Instagram soon! Trust me when I say that if you're in need of neutrals or are a neutral palette lover in general, this palette is one you would dote on. If this sounds like something you're interested in, act fast and buy it while it is still in stock!
