Happy Monday, everyone!
I hope your weeks are off to a beautiful start. We got hit by a snowstorm (again) over the weekend, so you could say I'm 100% ready for winter to be over. However, tomorrow is Valentine's Day which is a day I always look forward to!
I wanted to focus today's post on the products I'll be using for my Valentine's Day makeup look. Ultimately I want to achieve a romantic pink and red look that is the perfect balance of sweet and sultry. I didn't have time to do a trial-run thanks to the snow/my heat going out this weekend so unfortunately I don't have a look of the finished product. Stay tuned to see a photo of it tomorrow on my Instagram!
Although I have not quite decided on what primer I'll be using, I'll probably end up reaching for my Becca Backlight Filter Primer to start my face off with a glowy base.
Foundation: I will be using my trusty Naked Skin foundation to keep the dewy, fresh-faced theme going. Since I have class and work all day, I know this foundation will last me until that night and will make my skin look radiant despite getting very little sleep over the past several nights.
Concealer: To cover the dark circles and stress breakouts I currently have thanks to the craziness of this weekend, I'll be reaching for my Tarte Shape Tape concealer. This concealer is super high coverage and long-lasting, so it will be perfect to cover my undereye circles without creasing. I use the shade Fair (the lightest shade available) to brighten up underneath my eyes and the tops of my cheeks.
Blush: Milani's Rose Powder Blushes just scream Valentine's Day to me, don't you agree? These blushes have the perfect amount of pigmentation to leave just a kiss of color on the apples of my cheeks. I'll be using the shade Tea Rose as I find it is the perfect soft, neutral pinky shade.
Highlighter: I'll be reaching for my Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Sweets to bring a more intense glow to the tops of my cheekbones. I absolutely love each and every one of the shades in this kit, and they all fit well into the "sweet" portion of this makeup look. I'm thinking I will most likely layer a bit of Taffy and Marshmallow to build up an intense gleam that can still be seen in a dark restaurant.
Eyeshadow: To absolutely no one's surprise, I'll be reaching for my trusty Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette to create my sultry eye look. I'm planning on doing a smoked out pink and red halo eye. Maybe some silver glitter will make an appearance? Who knows - the world is my oyster.
Mascara: When I wear false lashes I like to apply a light mascara that does more to length/separate my lashes rather than give them heavy volume. Benefit's Roller Lash is the perfect mascara to lengthen and lift my lashes to help them blend in with falsies.
False lashes: I'll be rocking the Noir Fairy lashes from the brand House of Lashes with my eyeshadow look. I find the shape of them to be so flattering - they really do remind me of an ethereal fairy. The cute style will contrast nicely with the sultry eyeshadow I'm going for to balance out my makeup look as a whole.
Lipstick: The ever-pressing decision of what lipstick to wear on Valentine's Day is undoubtedly a tough call to make. Should I go with a classic red lip? A dainty pink one? A long-lasting liquid lipstick, or a creamy bullet lipstick? These were all questions that crossed my mind as I perused through my lipstick collection. Ultimately I decided to go with Colourpop's Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick in the shade Prim. The formula of this lipstick is long-lasting enough to get me through the day with only a quick touch-up, but is not nearly as drying as a typical liquid matte lipstick is. Although it is not completely transfer-proof for smooching, it's ultimately the best choice to get me through class, work, and dinner. The deep, vampy red shade will pair nicely with my eyeshadow and contrast against the light, girlish theme translated through the rest of my face makeup.
Voila! I may make some minor tweaks here or there but these are the main makeup products that will foster my Valentine's Day vibe. What products are you planning on using? Share links to your Valentine's Day posts in the comments below - I'd love to see your looks!
